Can you sell digital products on TikTok Shop?

The short answer

Yes, but almost certainly not you, and not yet. TikTok Shop launched a Virtual Goods category in May 2026, the first official route to selling digital products on the platform. As of the most recent guidance it is US only and invite only.

What the Virtual Goods category allows

Three product types at launch:

Check your Seller Center. If the Virtual Goods category is not available in your account, you do not have access, and there is no application form that changes that today. Access is extended by invitation.

What is still prohibited

TikTok's Prohibited Products Policy treats virtual and digital products as prohibited unless approved under Virtual Goods. In practice that means the things most people are asking about are still not listable: ebooks, online courses, templates, presets, memberships, subscriptions, digital downloads and printables. Unlicensed gambling products and related digital goods remain prohibited outright.

Do not use the workarounds

Three circulate widely. All three are policy violations and all three are detectable.

• Listing a digital item as a physical product. The order never produces a tracked delivery, which is exactly the pattern TikTok looks for.
• Shipping an empty package to generate a tracking number. This is fraud against the buyer as well as a policy breach.
• Editing the description after approval to change what is being sold. Listings are re-reviewed.

The downside is not a warning. It is enforcement against the shop, and a shop is a harder thing to rebuild than a product line.

What to do instead

1. Sell a physical product that carries the digital one. A printed workbook, a card with a licence code where that is permitted, a physical kit. This is legitimate and it is what most successful "digital" sellers on the platform actually do.
2. Use TikTok for demand, not fulfilment. Build the audience on TikTok and sell the course or membership on your own site. You lose in-app checkout and keep the margin, and nothing about that breaks a rule.
3. Watch the category. It launched in May 2026 and expanded from nothing; it is reasonable to expect the allowed types to widen. Being ready is worth more than being early and enforced.
